5 NFT events trending on Twitter

Transaction volumes on OpenSea have increased again, a particular influencer has been “canceled,” and Madonna may be on the verge of purchasing a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT.

There is no denying that pop culture has made a strong presence in the NFT space. Yam Karkai’s World of Women collection has followed in the footsteps of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) by signing with a big-time Hollywood agent.

Celebrity endorsements sway many new entrants, but the self-proclaimed “OGs” is bullish on “historical NFTs” and are allegedly unaffected by hype. However, when entrepreneur Gary “Vee” Vaynerchuk paid 100 ETH for “CrytptoSkulls,” a resurfaced 2019 “historical NFT,” the market for pixelated skulls skyrocketed.

Investors NFT

On January 10, 2022, CryptoSkulls resurfaced into the ether and quickly became relevant as several investors and influencers rushed to the collection to be a part of history.

Adam McBride and Leonidas, self-proclaimed NFT archeologists, are well-known for their extensive knowledge and support of “historical” NFTs. These collectors are not interested in short-term flips but instead see the long-term value in owning a historical NFT.

CryptoSkulls had been at the top of OpenSea’s total volume for the previous week but has now fallen out of the top five on the ranking charts. Despite this, the project raised a total of $41.79 million through OpenSea alone.

The Women’s World Influence

There appears to be a growing interest in showcasing female-led projects, especially since the World of Women (WoW) collection signed with Guy Oseary, Madonna’s and BAYC’s manager. With renewed IP rights, World of Warcraft entered the mainstream, capturing the attention and support of celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, Gary Vee, and Shonda Rhimes.

Investors appear to be drawn in by the celebrity lineup and the mission of WoW, as the game’s most significant sales occurred within days of each other. A 210 Ether and a 260 Ether transaction were notable sales.

The NFT floor currently ranges from 8.6 Ether to 16.8 Ether, and WoW has steadily established itself as a “blue chip” contender for NFT collectors. World of Women has made room for other female-led projects like Boss Beauties, Fame Lady Squad, and Women Rise to share the spotlight and band in support. Each of the collections above has seen an increase in both the number of unique holders and the price. There are 4,800 holders on average among these projects, whose collections range from 8,888 to 10,000 pfps.

As more owners and co-owners of these women-led projects publicly support each other’s successes, some skeptics believe it’s just a fad. However, with each passing milestone, these female projects appear to solidify their position as more than just “alpha” projects that will prove to be a profitable long-term investment.
